Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can you see me?

That depends on our availability and finding a date and time that works for both of us. While I have space in my books, I aim to see clients within a week (or later if that suits you better).

What sort of clients/issues do you see?

I am happy to counsel adults of any gender, religion,  cultural background or sexual orientation. I welcome transgender and neurodiverse individuals. At this time, I do not work with children.

How often/long do I need to come to counselling?

A standard counselling session lasts 50 minutes. Most people attend once a week, though some might prefer therapy to be more or less frequent at times. Therapy can be short-term or long-term, it really depends on the individual and the situation. Most people start off with 6 sessions or more and see where they go from there. It is always up to you as the client when you would like to end. We will have regular reviews on how therapy is going for you. I would just ask that you give me some notice when you feel you would like to end so that we can work towards a safe therapeutic ending together.

Is online counselling as effective?

Since the Covid pandemic, therapists across the world have discovered the benefits of counselling online. In my experience, it is just as effective as face-to-face therapy. It is entirely up to you as the client which you would prefer. Online might be better if you have a tight schedule, live far away or want the comfort of your own home. If you struggle to find a private place at home where you won't be disturbed, have a weak internet connection, or just prefer a face-to-face connection, then you are welcome to attend counselling in my cosy, peaceful log cabin.

Which forms of payment do you accept?

The best form of payment is usually bank transfer. I will provide bank details when arranging a session. I require payment at least 24 hours in advance. upfront. I may be able to accept cash payments upon request. If you would prefer to use another form of payment then please do get in touch and we will discuss alternative options.
